Sunrise Vehicle Hire Information

This information is relevant when you rent a Sunrise brand vehicle through Sunrise Holidays. You get the benefits of our personal expertise and the knowledge that we’re with you the whole way - all at no extra cost to you!

This information is not relevant if you’re hiring a Star RV or McRent brand vehicle.

Sunrise Insurance

Insurance options are charged on top of any quoted daily rate for the hire vehicle. Choose the one that works best for you:

  • Standard Insurance
    $5000 Excess
    $0/day

  • Excess Reduction
    $2500 Excess
    $29/day

  • All-Inclusive
    $0 Excess
    $79/day
    (Includes RUC).

Sunrise Inclusions

These are included with every hire - regardless of your chosen insurance option.

  • Standard insurance ($5000 Excess/Bond).

  • Quality linen, crockery, kitchen equipment & full gas bottle.

  • Camping tables/chairs. Car seat if required. GPS.

  • Good and Services Tax (GST).

  • Transfers free-of-charge from the airport and your hotel to your vehicle.

Sunrise Extras

Everyone’s hire is unique and so these are charged in addition:

  • Road User Charges - See Road User Charges section below.

 

Road User Charges (RUCs)

Anyone using New Zealand’s roads contributes towards their upkeep. Most road users pay levies when they buy fuel. Others, including drivers of diesel vehicles, pay through Road User Charges (RUC). You can read more about this on the New Zealand government's NZTA website. All Sunrise vehicles use diesel and therefore RUC apply.

We do not include these Road User Charges (RUC) in the daily hire rate. This means you will only pay for the kilometres you travel and we can offer you our lowest hire fee.

Your Road User Charges will be calculated at the end of your hire from your final odometer reading.

We will confirm your final odometer reading and total kilometres travelled when you return your vehicle, and will invoice you for the RUC fee once your hire is complete.

Sunrise Rates:

  • Based on current government rates, usually around $8 per 100km.

If you have selected the All Inclusive insurance option, the Road User Charges are included in your insurance package.
