A good campervan should not take over the trip. The Freedom Compact is small enough to drive and park anywhere you would take a car, and set up well enough that you are not learning a new system every time you stop for the night.

It is built on a brand-new Toyota Hiace with a five-star ANCAP safety rating, automatic transmission and the driver aids you would expect in a modern vehicle. Inside there is a two-metre bed, a diesel heater for cold nights and shoulder seasons, a fridge, and a slide-out table and chairs for sitting outside when the weather is on your side. The seating converts between forward and rear-facing, so the space works for travelling, eating and sleeping.
